Hi guys! I love cooking, and adapting recipes that I love to fit into my new healthy eating plan. I follow Weightwatchers, but my favourite recipe is bolognese. It’s the staple of so many lovely dishes, and I had a play about with it to make it slightly healthier. This whole thing only cost 4pp on my Weightwatcher’s plan. Not too shabby!
Here’s how I did it.
You Will Need:
A large pan
A wooden Spoon
5% fat minced beef
1 calorie spray
1 large onion
1 large red pepper
1/2 tub mushrooms
1 carton chopped tomatoes
1 carton of passata
1: Spray your calorie spray all around the pan and heat up on a low flame. Chop up your onion and add this to the pan once the spray has gone clear. Cook the onions until they go soft.
2: Add the minced beef. I usually tear this up into smaller chunks as I add it. It cooks a lot quicker. I also turn the heat up to a medium to full flame once the mince is in. You’re looking out for the outside of the beef to go brown, before doing anything else.
3: Whilst the mince cooks, chop up the rest of your raw vegetables. It does depend on preference, but I like to leave the pieces relatively thin but chunky. They do go smaller as they cook. Once the mince is brown, throw the lot in and steam it until it goes soft. The courgettes will start to disintegrate.
6: Once it begins to simmer turn the flame down low and place the lid on the pan. Leave it to cook for another half hour for the mince to fully cook.
And there is my recipe for a healthy bolognese. Once this has cooked you can eat it with spaghetti, rice or even make it into a lasagne. The options are endless with a bolognese sauce. If you would like me to do more recipes in the future, place let me know.
Bye for now!
