It’s my Mam’s birthday today. I won’t say her age because she will probably kill me. But today we are going out for a special birthday lunch and spend some time all together.
I will take some photos whilst we’re out and probably put them on instagram, but here’s everything that I wore today.
I used Bare Minerals Original Matte Foundation to powder my face before using the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation. For my under eye area I used a combination of Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer and Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer. Luckily I had no blemishes to cover today. I then brushed over this with a bit of Bare Minerals Bare Skin Perfecting Veil.
To give my face a bit of definition I used The Body Shop’s Honey Bronzing Powder in ‘Light Matte’ and brushed this in a figure of three shape on both sides of my face. For blush I used Too Faced’s Love Flush in ‘Love Hangover’. I am playing with highlighters a bit more and used a touch of Bare Minerals All Over Face Colour in ‘Instant Radiance’.
I have rediscovered how much love I had for MAC eyeshadows lately. For my eyeshadow, I first used a Maybelline Creamy Matte eyeshadow in ‘Creme de Rose’ and brought this up to my eyebrows. I used the MAC eyeshadow in Jest in the inner corner, and used the shade Satin Taupe all over the lid, blending out in the crease. To add some definition to the crease, I used tiny amounts of Smut and built this up. On my lower lash line I brought Satin Taupe and Smut and blended it out softly.
For liner, I used Max Factor’s Excess Intensity Liner in ‘Black’. I tightlined both the lower and upper lash line, and smudged a bit on the outer corner of the lid too.
For mascara, I first used Benefit’s Roller Lash to give me a flared look with the lashes, and then went in with a tad more volume with Too Faced’s Better Than Sex Mascara. I seriously need to purchase a full sized version of this mascara!
For brows, I used another MAC eyeshadow, Quarry, which looked gorgeous on my brows. To set them in place I used Benefit’s Gimme Brow.
I didn’t do anything fancy with the lips. I just used my favourite lipstick at the moment and that’s Smashbox’s ‘Mulberry’ lipstick. I love this colour so much!
For jewellery I wore a necklace that I was given for my confirmation. It’s from Past Times, which was a shop that I loved growing up. It closed down a fair while ago. Sad times. I also wore a pair of silver earrings with a black stone in them. I can’t remember where they’re from (possibly Claire’s Accessories). My charm bracelet is of course a Links Of London, and it is a very full bracelet. I love it a lot!
For my actual dress, I had a wardrobe change mid getting ready. I originally had a Matalan black dress with a burgundy stripe running down the centre of the dress front and studs in the shoulder area. It’s a gorgeous dress but I had a very silly “I look fat in this!” moment and changed into another Matalan dress with pink polka dots on it.
For shoes I wore a purple pair of heels which I was given by a friend in my London Years. She was such a lovely friend; she gave me 15 pairs of shoes!
My hair was curled and styles using curling irons. I didn’t want them to look too neat so I brushed them out with a brush and sprayed some texturising spray on the hair.
Finally, perfume! I used my Marc Jacobs Honey perfume. This is a gorgeous sweet scent, without being to sweet. I’m almost out of it. May ask for another bottle for Christmas.
And that is my entire outfit/makeup/hair look for today. I’m off to spend time with my Mam on her special day now.
Bye for now!
