Today is my Aunt’s 60th birthday, and we’re off to have afternoon tea somewhere that my cousin has booked. It should be a really nice afternoon, as I’m seeing family members that I haven’t seen in a long while. It’ll be nice to catch up.
Since it is a special occasion I have done my makeup and hair nice, as well as putting on a dress. I thought that I would share the makeup with you. I’m not in the dress yet, so I might do an Outfit of the Day later on.
So I started off by using No7’s new Airbrush Away foundation. This is very similar to the Smashbox BB Water, but a lot thicker in consistency. One drop is all you need for a decent coverage for one side of your face. I added a bit of Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer to any blemishes, and Maybelline Erase Eye Concealer to my under-eye circles. I set this all in place using whatever is left of my Bare Minerals Bareskin Perfecting Veil.
Just so I don’t look like a blank canvas, I added some definition to my cheek bones with a “new discovery”, the Body Shop’s Honey Bronzing Powder. I don’t think that I’ve used this before! I blended this up to my temples and along my jawline to make my round face just that slight bit more defined. To add some colour to my cheeks, I used a small amount of Too Faced’s Love Flush Blush in ‘Love Hangover’. This has already developed a dip in the pan; I’ve used it that much!
For the eyes, I primed the lids with a touch of Smashbox’s Photo Ready 24hr Eyeshadow Primer. You seriously only need a tiny amount of this to cover both lids. Otherwise it gets slippery. For actual shadow, I used a palette that I haven’t used in a while, which is the Bare Minerals Convertible Eyeshadow Palette. This was in the Christmas Collection last year, and it doesn’t look like they’ve brought it back this year. To start, I took the shade ‘Hard to Get’ over my entire lid up to the brow bone. It’s a matte pale pink shade with a hint of sparkle. Then I took the shade ‘Fantasy’ on my lid up to the crease, blending it out slightly. Finally, I took the shade ‘Mystify,’ adding small amounts of this to build up the colour in the crease. I then took ‘Mystify’ again along my lower lash line.
To tightline the eyes, I used Urban Decays Glide on Liner in ‘Demolition’ on the top lid and 3/4 of the way in on the bottom lash line. On my top lash line, I applied a thin line of L’Oreal’s Superliner in Black.
I finished off the eyes by using a lot of Too Faced’s Better Than Sex Mascara. This truly is a miracle product for giving skimpy lashes new life! I also filled in my brows using Benfit’s Brow Zings palette. I don’t know why I leave my brows to last. I really don’t!
For the lips, I used another Revlon Colorburst lip crayon. However this one was the Matte Balm ‘Fiery.’ Yes, I did buy this one after seeing Tanya Burr using it in her Get Ready With Me video. Lip products always look amazing on her!
However, I added a touch of 3D amazement by placing a hint of Nars Lipgloss in ‘Baby Doll’ into the centre of the lips. This gave the impression that I have slightly juicier lips than I actually do.
And that is the finished look. I’ll post my full outfit later on.
Bye for now!
