I wear contacts most of the time. Part of the reason is that I don’t really feel confident in my other glasses. I am blind as a bat so I do need some form of aid with my vision.
To try and give my eyes a break from contacts every now and again, I thought it best to try and find some glasses that I actually liked.
I swapped my opticians from Boots to Vision Express after a very rude receptionist said I couldn’t afford daily contacts just by looking at me. Cow!
Anyway, it takes me ages to choose a pair of glasses. This is something that other people will see, and more importantly, you need to feel comfortable putting on your face. I hate the giant secretary type glasses that are in fashion at the moment. I honestly have no idea how wearable something this size would be in real life. They actually made my head look tiny in the shop.
I finally settled on this pair by Julien MacDonald. The inner hipster in me wanted to try and remain unique and not choose the black rimmed pair. I wanted something very me and decided on a burgundy, slightly purplish frame.
They do look like secretary glasses, but they are slightly smaller and have a very feminine tilt to the upper rim. They look kinda sexy. I honestly love them. And as the lovely bloke in Vision Express told me, they went with the “fabulous lipstick” that I was wearing. It was Charlotte Tilbury’s Burkin Brown if you’re wondering.
I love the box that it comes in. It’s a black faux snakeskin design which continues on the cleaning cloth and box, which I’m tempted to keep.
These do retail at £165 and I got thinned down lenses to pay for these monthly (You need to spend over £250 to qualify for the pay monthly scheme).
I can’t wait to wear these out and about. What do you think of them?
Bye for now!
