Foundation can look amazing if it’s blended in correctly. However, I have had days where no matter what foundation I use it looks cakey and thick on the skin.
Here are some things that I do to stop this from happening.
- First things first; wash off the foundation you applied. Use a cleanser if you have one.
- Exfoliate your skin using a gentle exfoliator. I’m using the Body Shop’s Tea Tree Exfoliator at the moment. It’s really gentle, prevents blemishes and makes the skin look less red. Do make sure that it’s all washed off the skin.
- Apply a Moisturiser. Don’t apply a lot of products because skincare overkill could be a reason why your foundation cakes. If you really truly can’t live without these products, apply them, but wait for them to absorb before applying your foundation.
- Apply your foundation in thin layers, building up to the coverage that you want. For this step, using a clean brush can help, so regular cleaning of makeup brushes is a must.
- Set with a powder.
I hope this helps. If you have any other tips that can prevent cakey foundation, let us all know in the comments.
Bye for now!
