The Best Long-Lasting Lipstick Formulas

On Instagram, someone asked me what my favourite long-lasting lipsticks were. Which ones last the best through life; eating and drinking, kissing ect…?

So what are the best lipstick formulas that last for a normal makeup addict?

The best formulas tend to be matte ones. Being matte, these generally are less hydrating than creamier formulas so they won’t absorb into the lips or transfer easily to cups and food. Something like the Bobbi Brown Creamy Mattes and Smashbox Be Legendary Long-Wear Lip Lacquers are perfect. These truly don’t budge at all!

However, you do get some really great creamy lipsticks that stand the test of life. I tend to find that the ones that are the most comfortable to wear last the longest (ones that feel non-sticky usually). Urban Decay’s Revolution lipsticks are amazing for this. They are really hydrating on the lips but last ages. Yes, you do get some transfer to cups, but the majority of colour will stay put, leaving a nice even tint to the lips. If you want a more affordable version of this, Rimmel’s Moisture Drench collection have a similar effect.

The best tip that I can give for making any lipstick last as long as possible on the lips is to apply a lip pencil. These act as a primer for the lips, and because they are matte in texture they act as a great base for lipsticks to cling to. My favourite lip liners are Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Cheats and No7’s Precision Liners. Both act as a great base for lipsticks and have very wearable shades.

To finish off, here are some of my favourite long-lasting lipsticks, that I haven’t mentioned above:

  • Nars Audacious Lipsticks
  • Benefit Benetint
  • MAC Amplified Lipsticks
  • Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipsticks
  • Rimmel Kate Moss Lipsticks
  • No7 Stay Perfect Lipsticks

What are your favourite long-lasting lipsticks? Or do you have any tips for making lipstick last longer? Let us all know.

Bye for now!
