It’s the end of yet another month and it’s time to share with you all of the things that I have been loving this month.
There are quite a few things so I will try to do everything quite quickly. I promise!
Smashbox Be Legendary Lipsticks
These got a huge makeover earlier on in the month and I quickly became re-obsessed. These are my favourite collection of lipsticks; I actually prefer this formula to MAC, and the shades are amazing. There are 14 new shades in the collection to replace some of the older ones (and yes they are not just the old shades with a new name). Smashbox took a good look at what shades were needed in the lineup and what shades would stand the test of time. There are a few new reds and a couple of browns. All of them look amazing.
Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation
This foundation is awesome. It gives amazing medium to full coverage without looking cakey. This has been my go-to foundation for a lot of April, as it hasn’t caked as much as some of the others around my dry eye.
Chanel Soleil de Tan
It took me such a long time to give in to the hype of this product. It’s a giant 30g cream bronzer. In comparison my Lancome Bronzer holds 8g. 30g is huge!! The product itself is gorgeous. It smells like chocolate and blends like a dream. I find that using this is small amounts and building it up slowly is the best way to use this.
Benefit Dew the Hoola
This is Benefit’s new cream bronzer. It is awesome. You do need to use it sparingly though because a little does go a long way! It gives a lovely, dewy (even though it’s advertised as matte) sheer wash of warm colour to the skin. It’s simply stunning.
Pixi Nourishing Lip Polish
I have been getting quite dry lips lately, and I hate dipping my finger in pots of scrubbie stuff. This is a weird little product from Pixi. The applicator has little nubs on the top that exfoliate the lips whilst the product itself nourishes the dryness from your lips. It is amazing and I use it religiously now.
Chanel Joues Contrast Powder Blush in Orchid Rose
This was used one me during a makeover at the Chanel counter and I love it. Its a very pigmented dusty rose blush with a hint of sparkle. With this I don’t need highlighter because the blush gives enough of a subtle daytime radiance with it. It’s such a beautiful colour and I have loved wearing it lately, and will continue wearing it in the Summer and Winter.
Chanel Le 4 Ombres in Cambon and Dimensions
Yes, I did some damage at Chanel this month! I did have quite a few discount points on my Debenhams/ House of Fraiser/Boots card though! These two palettes are very similar in that they have purple shades in the quad, however one has a beautiful glittery silver shade within and the other has a gorgeous taupe shade. I have loved both of these palettes throughout April. Cambon has a very bright pink, which I will use as soon as my eye sorts itself out!
MAC Pigmented Coloured Powder
These are loose pigmented eyeshadows that give amazing colour payoff. Yes, you do get a fair amount of fall-out, but they wipe away easily. But you kind of expect it with pigments. However the staying power is awesome and they blend like a dream! I love all the shades that I have in here, but the shades I have worn a lot lately are Naked and Old Gold. I bought Naked for brown highlighting. I thought Vanilla looked too over the top for my eyes and this is such a pretty shade. Old Gold is a rusty gold shade with elements of green. On my eyes it looks more green than gold, but on my sister this was gold. It’s a really pretty colour for a subtle pop of gold (or green) to the lids.
MAC Mineralized Skin Finish
I bought this after realising that the Vichy Derma Blend was drying out my skin further, and this gets a really good write up. I use this to set the concealer under my eye and to set my foundation. This is such a finely milled powder, it feels amazing and doesn’t effect flashback on photos or sits in my pores. Two very unrelated pros, but that’s just how my mind works apparently!
Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara
I received this from a recent giveaway hosted by Ena from Pretty Plus and Proud. I hadn’t really heard of Mary Kay before receiving her package and it’s very similar to Avon. This is definitely my favourite makeup item out of the items I received; it gives great length to the lashes without clumping them. It’s a really nice everyday mascara.
Chanel Stylo Eyeliner
This is the final Chanel product I promise! The girl at the Chanel counter told me that this gives very precise feline-flicks for eyeliner and she was right. I filmed a first impressions video a few weeks back and you can see my shock that this actually gave me a fab feline flick to the eyelids. I got this in brown but I am tempted to pick this up in black once my Maybelline Liner runs out. It’s a fantastic product that doesn’t smudge at all. I love it!
Bare Minerals The Stolen Heart Blush
This is a gorgeous, subtle daytime blush and highlighter. It does look like I’ve hardly used this, but I promise you that I have used this almost every day this month and some of March. You get a decent amount of product from a quick swipe of the brush, it’s super pigmented but you don’t get a lot of fall-out. I love the formula of this and I hope Bare Minerals release more like this in the future, because I love the concept.
Revlon Fantasy Brow Pencil
I will admit, I was lead into temptation by watching Tanya Burr’s Wedding video. Naughty me! This does give a lovely soft focus brow look. The setting gel is really good and doesn’t overpower the brow hairs with setting gel. It’s really really good stuff.
Body Shop Eye Mask
With my eyes being really sore and itchy, I have been wearing this on a night time to help soothe them. The gel in the mask is really cooling without feeling uncomfortable. It’s just what you need after a long day to help soothe tired eyes. It’s amazing.
Charlotte Tilbury Dupes Series
This has by far been my favourite series to recreate makeup looks for. I know I haven’t finished yet; I had to take a break when my skin had the reaction to the face wipes. I found that I couldn’t really give the looks justice with a dodgy eye. But now my skin has returned to normal, I can finish the looks properly and I may redo Vintage Vamp. I really hope that you have enjoyed these posts as much as I have loved doing them.
I have recently got back into Cross Stitching. I used to do it religiously as a teenager and I found it very relaxing and therapeutic. I find that it does take my mind off rather stressful situations and gives my brain a break. I currently have two big projects on the go and I love them both. I will post photos when I’m finished.
And those are all of my favourites this month. What products have you been loving this month?
Bye for now!
