Turquoise Dreams- Makeup of the Day

Hi guys!

This has probably been my favourite eye makeup look since my eyes healed. As the summer approaches, I have wanted to be braver with colours on my eyes, and what better way than to use a lot of blue, purple and turquoise shades?

If I followed makeup rules, they would say blue eyes and blue eyeshadow look awful together. But screw the rules! Makeup is fun and I say, wear whatever makes you happy. Bright colours make me happy, so I’m wearing turquoise!

Face

For the base, I applied my Nars Sheer Glow Foundation with a buffing brush, and then drew a triangle of concealer under my eyes using my Bare Minerals Bare Skin Concealer. I blended everything in to get rid of any streaks from the brush using my Laura Mercier Sponges. I set my liquid products in place using my MAC Mineralize Skin Skin.

To give my face some definition, I buffed some of Nars’ Paloma Contour Powder under my cheek bones and around my jawbone and temples in a figure of three shape. Just a quick warning here guys; this is very pigmented and only takes a tiny amount of product to blend out! For blush, I applied a small pop of Bare Minerals Ready Blush in The Indecent Proposal, which is a pretty pinky mauve shade. For highlighter, I used a brand new product from Model’s Own, which is their new Rock n’ Rosy Blusher Sticks in the shade Baby Pop. These blend out so well!

Eyes

I have just had my eyebrows tinted and waxed so I haven’t needed as much product as normal in them. However, I still filled them in a bit with my Benefit Brow Zings Palette, and set them in place using the Benefit Gimme Brow Mascara. I then primed my lids using Benefit’s Stay Don’t Stray Eyeshadow Primer.

As for the eyeshadow, I first packed on a lot of dark blue using Nars’ Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Cressida as a base. Over this, I then packed on the turquoise shade from Nars’ China Seas duo, immediately applying the purple shade over the top. I blended out the edges with a fluffy brush. Underneath my eye, I used a small smudger brush to run the turquoise shade under my eye. I did tightline my eyes slightly using my faithful Urban Decay Waterline Eyeliner in Rail.

As for mascara, I first primed my lashes using MAC’s False Lash Maximiser. Over this I used the very funky wanded MAC Pro & Beyond Twisted Lash. This is an awesome mascara, and I am slowly getting used to the wand! On my lower lashes I used the new Bare Minerals Lash Domination Petite Precision Mascara.

Lips

I did a bit of layering on my lips too!

I wanted a bright Summery orange lip to go with the bright eyes. I first lined my lips using MAC’s Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in High Energy. Over this, I applied MAC’s Matte Lipstick So Chaud. And to give the centre of the lip a more glossy feel, I applied MAC’s Amplified Cream in Painted Sunset. All of these are gorgeous colours on their own, but I loved the effect when they were together.

And that is my finished bright Summery makeup look. How do you rock a turquoise eye? Have fun with makeup guys, and enjoy the rest of your day!

Bye for now.
