Onto another mid-yearly favourites list.
Not much has changed in my skincare routine as of late, but here’s a shoutout to all the bits of awesomeness that make my skin feel good.
Bare Minerals Active Cell Renewal
This was recently repurchased at the end of last month to try and combat the dry patches on my skin. And yes, it worked. This truly is a magic serum. It seems to take any issue on your skin and destroy it. At least it has for me anyway. This is a really thin serum that absorbs straight into the skin so you could use this during the day or at night. I tend to use it just before I go to bed though.
Estee Lauder New Dimensions Firm and Fill Eye System
I have tried other eye creams this year as I start to take my under eye area more seriously the closer the big three-oh gets, however this is the only one that’s impressed me. As good as the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Cream is, I’m a little bit sensitive to it and it makes my eyes water. I bought this after watching Fleur de Force’s favourites video and it is as good as she advised. It helps me look more awake and reduces any fine lines under my eyes. It does help hydrate my under eye area too. It’s a great eye cream worth checking out.
The filler bit at the bottom is something that I’m still getting used to, but I’m not quite there yet. It’s a lot thicker than the eye cream and can drag on my lid a little bit. I may need to go back to the counter and ask how to use this step, unless any of you know. Please tell me how you use this bit.
Garnier Micellar Oil Infused Water
I did find that the original Micellar water tended to strip my skin a bit and make it slightly sensitive. This one doesn’t appear to have that problem. I’ve used this for about two months and it’s very gentle on the skin. It removes makeup brilliantly and the oil in it helps hydrate my skin. It’s amazing stuff, and quite cheap compared to some of the other stuff you’ll see on these lists!
Body Shop Camomile Oil Cleanser
I used the original Camomile Makeup Remover long before my blog, and I loved it. Then they reformulated it, to which I was allergic. Bugger! However, I have gotten into a lot of oil products this year and thought I would give this one a go. This does an amazing job at breaking down even the stubbornest of waterproof mascara without any harsh scrubbing of the face. I actually love the feel of my skin after using this. It feels healthy and smooth and clean. It also smells amazing!
Urban Decay B6
This is a new product bought on a complete whim during Debenhams’ 10% off sale. I use this morning, night and even during the day if my skin needs a little boost. This is a skin soothing spray that is meant to reduce redness and minimise pores. I haven’t used this long enough to notice these things but I love this on bad skin days where my face feels a little sore and dry. I spritz this a little bit and it rejuvenates my skin and calms down that nasty irritation on the surface of the skin. I will report back if this does help my skin in the long run.
Bare Minerals Biolucent
Another old favourite. This is a brilliant serum for adding a natural glow to my skin. I love this stuff. It helps hydrate my skin and gives a lovely subtle luminosity to my foundation. This does also help reduce breakouts on my skin, which is a good bonus. I’m just sad that this is getting discontinued. I’ve lost count on how many times this has been repurchased.
Urban Decay Chill Makeup Setting Spray
I have started using setting sprays since my foundation hasn’t been lasting whilst I’ve been using steroid creams on my face. Some of the others weren’t that great. It just felt like spritzing water on my face. This one is the only one that seems to make a difference. It is really gentle on the skin and makes my makeup last ages. I do apply this before mascara though as it can smudge a bit when this is applied. Other than that it’s awesome!
So those are my current skincare favourites this year. What are yours?
Enjoy the rest of your day.
