I’ve just got back from watching ‘Me Before You’ at the cinema, and I absolutely loved it. It really kept loyal to the book, which was brilliant. And since the film succeeded in removing all my makeup through crying, I wanted to attempt a very quick makeup tutorial based on the movie.
Emilia Clarke really is beautiful in this film. It’s lovely seeing her play someone so normal compared to her Game of Thrones character. Her makeup is really simple in the film, and she alternates between wearing a nude and red lip throughout the film, but the eye makeup is pretty consistent. So I created this makeup look based on Lou Clarke’s makeup in the film.
PS- Since I thought Lou probably couldn’t afford much high end makeup, the majority of this is drugstore (for a change).
I didn’t use a primer today, and just went straight in with a light coverage foundation. I used the L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation, which gives decent coverage whilst still giving the illusion of not wearing much makeup. I wear the shade Rose Beige.
Lou doesn’t have a defined contour, but it does look like she wears a touch of bronzer at times, so I swirled a small amount of the L’Oreal Glam Bronze La Terra over my cheek bones and across my temples; just to give me a hint of colour. For blush I did use my Urban Decay Afterglow Blush in Quiver. This is extremely pigmented so go in with a very light hand. To highlight I used the Clinique Chubby Stick in hefty Highlight. This is such a natural highlighter and it blends out really well.
Under my eyes I blended out a little Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer. I set everything with my Bare Minerals Bareskin Perfecting Veil.
The eyes were really simple and took very little effort. I primed my lids with a bit more of the Bourjois Radiant Reveal Concealer, and set it using a bit of my setting powder. I then rang a bit of my Body Shop Smoky Eyeliner in Black quite messily along my lash line and smudged it out with a smudger brush. I defined the crease slightly with a bit of the bronzer used earlier.
For brows, Emilia’s are quite full compared to mine, so I gave them a bit more volume and colour using my Urban Decay Brow Box, thickening the ends of my brows slightly. I set them in place using my Benefit Gimme Brow.
As for mascara I used the L’Oreal Miss Hippie mascara on both the upper and lower lashes.
To give the look a bit of pop, I used the L’Oreal Sexy Balm Bold in Yala Yolo. These has some serious staying power guys! They are really long-lasting for a glossy balm.
And that is the finished look guys. This is a very subtle, hardly any makeup there look. I hope you enjoyed it, and if you have seen the film tell me what you thought.
Have a lovely day guys!
Bye for now!
