Sultry Purple Smoky Eye

One of my favourite makeup looks is a smoky eye look. I rarely do a classic grey one though. I always tend to mix colours in my smoky eyes.

Today I created this quite intense purple smoky eye. I absolutely love the look and wanted to share it with you all.

For the face, I buffed a light layer of Urban Decay’s One and Done Foundation into the skin, applying Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer anywhere that needed extra coverage. I se this in place with the Dior Diorskin Forever and Ever Powder. This is awesome powder for a subtle polished look. It’s absolutely beautiful.

I did want to contour for this look, so I drew a thick line along my cheek bone and temples with the Clinique Chubby Stick Bronzer, buffing this out with a biffing brush. For extra warmth I swirled some of the Urban Decay Beached Bronzer in Sunkissed in a figure 3 shape on both sides of my face.

For blush and highlight I mixed the Dior Nude Air Glow Powder in 001 and Nars Impassioned Blush. Together these gave a slightly flushed glow. To intensify that glow slightly, I did sweep a very slight layer of Becca’s Champagne Pop over my cheek bones.

For the eyes, I brushed some of Benefit’s Gimme Brow through my brow hairs to give them some shape.

In the crease, I took Too Faced’s Matte Eye palette, and took the shades Tufted Suede, Pebbles and Vintage Violet in that order and swept them through the crease in circular motions until there was no harsh lines. I also took Vintage Violet along my lower lash line.

On my lid, I mixed the shades  Chaos and Jilted from the Urban Decay Electric Palette and patted them onto the lid, buffing out the harsh edge into those crease shades. This was repeated along the lower lash line. To highlight the brow bone I took Nars’ Dual Intensity shadow in Topless and swept this across my brow bone.

I did do some tightlining today for a change. I took Charlotte Tilbury’s Rock n Kohl Liner in bedroom Black and ran this along my waterline and along my lash line to smoke out that upper lash line. I smudged this out with a smudger brush.

For lashes I used the Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Mascara.

As for lips I kept things very natural. This is the natural colour of my lips. All that I have added is a clear lip gloss from Dior (The Lip Maximiser). This does feel so weird as it plumps your lips but actually hydrates them and leaves them looking kissably juicy. A new fave!

What are your thoughts? How do you alter the classic smoky eye?

Have a great day guys!
