July really has flown!
We’ve had some pretty scorching weather here in England. It’s been amazing (apart from when it comes to sleeping). It’s also meant that I have tried a few more of my old favourite Summer, hot weather items as this month has progressed.
So here are all of my monthly favourites.
Bare Minerals Ready Foundation
I really don’t want this to be discontinued. This lasts so well on me; it’s hydrating, doesn’t sit on my pores and covers blemishes easily. It’s also pretty sweat resistant. I wore this in Italy a few years back and it didn’t budge. Now in 30 degree heat, I’m finding that this lasts a hell of a lot better than my liquid foundations. I will give the replacement of this a whirl in September, but I adore this foundation!
Bare Minerals Nudes Palette
In my makeup bag, I’ve taken to carrying one neutrals palette, and one colourful one. Throughout July, I use this palette every day; whether it’s a for a completely neutral eye, or to define the crease ready for something more colourful. This is very slim, so it’s perfect for travelling. The shades are very beautiful and highly pigmented; they blend like a dream! So if you are looking for something neutral for Summer, grab this while you can. I’m pretty sure it may be limited edition.
Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Lipsticks
Charlotte Tilbury’s lipsticks are beautiful. She recently came out with a line of lipsticks as part of a charity event for Women for Women International. £1 from each sale goes to the charity. I have three shades from the collection; two mattes and one cream. All are beautiful, but my favourite if definitely Secret Salma. It’s such a gorgeous nude shade. I also love Tell Laura. It’s a hot orange; what’s not to love?
Lancome Grandiose Liquid Liner
This is such a cute looking liner and I love the packaging. The handle moves to help you get the angle right for a perfect liner look. I really struggle to create liquid liner cat-eye effects so this really helps me out a lot. It’s waterproof too, and won’t budge. One one very hot summer day this liner and Hot Emily lipstick were the only things left on my very sweaty face! It really is an amazing product.
Body Shop Shimmer Cubes
I have loved these for years, but I have only recently began showing them some love again. For something called ‘shimmer cubes’ these are not huge chunks of glittery eyeshadow. This less Urban Decay Moondust and more Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in an eyeshadow form. These are essentially a quad of eyeshadows that can be worn wet or dry. I wouldn’t do what my cousin Georgia did and pore water over my Lily Cole one; just spritz the brush with water or setting spray for the desired effect. I have four (five if you include the one I gave to my sister) of the Shimmer Cubes and love them all. If I did have to pick favourites though they would be number 23 (purples) and 30 (golden browns).
Bare Minerals Translucent Powder Duo
When I first bought this, I thought that it was a setting powder and highlighter. Nope! Both are setting powders. I tend to use the matte one under my eyes to set concealer and the pearlescent one to set foundation. This powder is not a glitter bomb; the shimmer in it just helps work with your foundation to give that lovely healthy glow. They are gorgeous powders, and invisible on the skin.
Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow
This is a beautiful contour shade and a lovely natural highlighter. It’s very subtle and perfect for lighter skin tones. Like all of Charlotte’s powders, this is very finely milled, blending like butter onto the skin, leaving wonderful looking skin behind. Definitely worth the price tag.
Laura Mercier Indiscretion Highlighter
Time for a touch of glitter porn! Oh my God, this highlighter is life! It is beautiful. It looks absolutely stunning on cheekbones or as an eyeshadow. This is beautiful. As it is so highly pigmented and glittery, I apply this with a fan brush. I honestly love this! It is amazing!
Bare Minerals Ready Blush: The Secret’s Out
I really have gone back to my routes and used a lot of Bare Minerals products as of late. This blush is beautiful for creating that natural coral, mauve, pink glow (basically all the colours). It is a perfect daytime Sumer blush. I have used this loads, but you need the tiniest amount of product on the brush to blend out properly. Honestly, it is beautiful.
All the Bright Places
This book made me cry. Jennifer Niven has written a beautifully researched book. This book follows two characters who both suffer some form of depression. They meet at the top of a tower where they are both possibly about to kill themselves. I know, happy stuff! The rest of the story follows how they manage to find themselves again. It truly is a lovely story, but will make you cry.
And those are all of my favourites this month. I can’t wait to read your posts if you do favourites blog posts.
See you tomorrow guys, and have a lovely day!
