I am obsessed with top 10 videos on YouTube. On one of them, they showed footage from Kanye West’s Bound 2 music video. I did watch all 4 minutes of the rather uncomfortable video afterwards just to see what all the hype was about. The only thing that I really liked about the video was Kim’s makeup. She looks stunning!
So even though I wasn’t a fan of the song, I wanted to create a nice soft summery golden makeup look based on her makeup in the music video.
And here we go!
For the face I mixed two foundations to get a more medium coverage dewy look. I mixed Liz Earle’s Sheer Skin with The Body Shop’s Fresh Nude Foundation. I also added one drop of The Body Shop’s Drops of Sun Honey Bronzer to give a soft bronzy glow to the skin. These three together looked amazing buffed into the skin.
For concealer, I used generous amounts of the Too Faced Born This Way Concealer under my eyes and around any areas of redness on the skin (chin and forehead). I blended this in with a Beauty Blender. Then under my eyes, I applied the Liz Earle Light Reflecting Concealer to the inner part of the eye, blending out with the same tool. To set the base is place I used the Dior Diorskin Forever and Ever Control Loose Powder.
Kim’s contour was rather soft in this video, compared to normal, so I used my Nars Paloma Bronzer to chisel out my cheek bones. To bronze up my face further, I then took the Liz Earle Radiant Bronzer and buffed this softly into my cheeks and around my forehead. This is a really beautiful bronzer if you are looking for a new one. Liz Earle really doesn’t get enough hype for her makeup. They are amazing.
For blush, I used Nars’ Orgasm Blush. concentrating on the cheek bones. I did sweep the excess onto the apples, just to suit it more to my preferences.
To highlight, I first blended some of Benefit’s Watt’s Up onto the tops of my cheek bones, blending it out with my fingers. Over this, I used the Dior Diorskin Air Nude Illuminating Powder.
Kim’s eye makeup is actually really simple yet beautiful in the video. For the brows, I drew a more rounded shape using the Benefit Goof Proof Pencil, and set it into place using the Benefit Ready Set Brow Gel.
To prime the eyes, I used my Benefit Air Patrol, setting this with the shade Anonymous from the Urban Decay XX Palette.
For a base I took Chanel’s Illusion d’Ombe Eyeshadow in Mirage, packing this onto the lid with an eyeshadow brush, and blending out the edges with a fluffy blending brush. Over this I took Smog from the Urban Decay XX Palette, placing this directly over the top, and taking the excess under the eye. In the inner corner, I placed a small amount of Moonflower from the same palette.
I did tightline my eyes using Rodial’s Smoky Liner Pen, also smudging this along my top lash line to smoke out the lid slightly. Along the brow bone, I applied a small amount of the Watt’s Up highlighter, just to continue that golden glow all the way up my lid.
I then applied my Urban Decay Perversion Mascara to finish off the eye look.
Keeping things simple with the lips, I applied a generous layer of the Bobbi Brown Lipstick Almost Pink. This is a very flattering nude lipstick, perfect for Summer.
And that is the finished look. What are your thoughts on my attempt at recreating this makeup style icon’s makeup?
Thanks for reading, and enjoy your day.
