Thumbs up if you’re a lipstick junkie.
I love lipsticks. They can really pull a makeup look together, and can give a woman that boost of confidence she needs to face the world. Lipstick is definitely one of those things for me; that and well blended eyeshadow.
These days I do try and keep my makeup bag quite compact; carrying a few things that I will use in the next few weeks before it gets circulated again. I like to give each item a fair go before I swap it for something else.
At the moment, I have eight lipsticks in my makeup bag. This may seem extreme to some people, but this honestly is minimalist for me; I like options!
So, today I wanted to swatch the lipsticks that I have chosen for the upcoming weeks and give my general thoughts on each.
Bare Minerals: Make Your Move is one of the Marvelous Moxie collection lipsticks. I love the texture of these lipsticks in general and own a fair few of them. This shade is such a beautiful wearable browny nude with just a hint of pink. It looks beautiful and is a perfect day to day colour. These retail at £17.
Charlotte Tilbury: Hel’s Bells This is a gorgeous matte plum shade modelled after Helena Bonham Carter. I love this actress and her movies and initially bought the lipstick for this reason. However the darker plum shade is right up my street. I love pairing this with a golden eyeshadow. The formula of these are very comfortable and long-lasting; they’re just fantastic. Like all of Charlotte’s makeup, this is on the pricier side at £25. Worth it though!
Body Shop: 115 I wish that the Body Shop would give their lipsticks names on the packaging. I know they have cool names on the website, but for some reason a number stays on the packaging itself. Oh well! The name isn’t important but the lipstick itself. This is a true red, satin-glossy finish lipstick. It’s really hydrating and surprisingly long-lasting for a glossier lipstick. This is perfect for glamming up a daytime look, or for a more subtle evening look. I love the colour, and this is one of the more affordable items here at £10.
Clinique: Melon Pop On some people I’m sure that this would show up coral or peachy. On me this is a nude. I’m almost tempted to say that this is a my lips but better shade. It’s such a pretty colour and I love the lightweight formula of Clinique’s Colour Pop lipsticks; they feel like you’re not wearing anything at all, but they give such amazing colour payoff. Melon Pop is certainly one that I wear on more neutral makeup days. This retails at £17.
Urban Decay: Phone Call This is one of Urban Decay’s new sheer lipsticks. This is a beautiful glossy bright pink. It is absolutely stunning and perfect for giving a bit of life to more neutral makeup looks. I love it. The sheer formulas seem ideal for those hot Summer days where you still fancy a touch of colour but nothing to overpowering. Urban Decay’s Vice Lipsticks retail at £15, which isn’t bad for a high end brand.
Estee Lauder: Vague Obsession This is one of the Lip Potions that survived my recent makeup purge. I love the colour of this. It is a peachy, slightly neutral liquid lipstick. Once set, these don’t budge. This is one of the few liquid lippie formulas that don’t dry my lips out, and actually feel comfortable on the lips. They are lovely and worth the splurge of £20.
Bobbi Brown: Tulle Out of any lipstick on this list, I have worn this one the most as of late. This is such a beautiful long-lasting satin finish lipstick. It is a deep rosy pink with a slightly brown undertone. It’s absolutely stunning! I paid £21 for this but I know price does vary between stores. If you are of a medium skin tone, or even darker skin tone this would be a perfect neutral for you. It’s just so beautiful.
Clinique: Bold Pop I had to include my new lipstick in the bag. As well as this being something that I will keep in my collection, I love the colour. Whoever picked this out knew me and my love for bold lips well. Unlike Melon Pop, this lipstick is a matte mixture of red and plum. It’s absolutely beautiful. I also love the fact that once this one runs out, I can keep the engraved cap for a different lipstick.
So that is all the lipsticks in my makeup bag. What lipsticks are currently in yours?
Thanks for reading and have a nice day guys.
