How is everyone today?
It’s that time of the month again when I go through my life and find things that I loved this month. There have been quite a few, so I will try to keep things short and sweet.
As it is almost officially Winter here in the North East of England, my entire base has needed a switch around. For skincare, I am still keeping things simple with my skincare and only using a lip balm, moisturiser and eye cream. The easier regime has appeared to work well since my skin has been the best that it’s ever been as of late. My favourite moisturiser this month has been my old faithful Body Shop Hemp Face Protector. It’s finally back in stock and I’m so happy! This is one of the most affordable deep moisturising creams that I have used, and it really helps soften irritating skin conditions. I do get a little eczema on my face and this cream really helps get rid of it when I use it. It just absorbs beautifully without any residue on the skin. I love it.
The eye cream that I use is the Dior Hydra Life Eye Cream. I have been using this a really long time and it’s one of the only creams that actually reduces my under eye circles and wrinkles. I don’t get many but I do have one harsh one that runs under both eyes. This really helps fill in the lines and makeup does go really well over the top of it. It’s definitely one of the best creams that I’ve tried.
As for lip balm my Dior Lip Balm has ran out and I had to find another one. Since I can’t afford a Dior lip balm everytime, I decided to try the Body Shop Hemp Lip Balm. In the cooler weather, my lips do tend to chap a lot and this just heals them really well. It’s brilliant and ten times cheaper than the Dior one.
At the end of last month I treat myself to a new primer. I used to use the Smashbox Photo Finish primer back when I first got into makeup but I haven’t used it for a while. This is a brilliant primer for helping foundation look flawless and helps make it more long-lasting. I tend to massage this into my skin using my fingers and it just helps pores to look smaller. It’s fab!
I have kept my base a lot lighter this month and I have loved three different foundations. All are buildable coverage and very hydrating. These three foundations were the Bare Minerals Original, Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua and the Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint. They are all just fantastic products.
I did keep my cheek products to a minimum this month, only really using the same products again and again. My favourite bronzer has got to have been the Body Shop Drops of Sun. This was such a sheer was of colour that worked really well mixed into foundations if they were a bit pale or as a full-on bronzer for the face since it sheered out so well, it was so easy to control with a sponge or a brush. I have loved using it this month. As for blush, I have used Becca’s Split Pan Blush in Amaretto and Prosecco Pop, and Tanya Burr’s Holiday Happiness Cheek Illuminator quite a bit. They are just such pretty washes of colour that go the natural flush shade of your cheeks. They are really blendable and just so pretty.
For highlighter, I have used the Sleek Highlighting Palette in Solstice so much this month. I’m obsessed with it! It really adds so much light to the skin and is very richly pigmented. I tend to use this with a fan brush to really diffuse the colour. I love the lilac shade the most. It’s stunning!
I’ve really worn the same shade on my eyes this month and that has been deep, rich plum shades. The Body Shop’s Siberian Quartz Cream Eyeshadow Stick mixed with Nars’ Dual Intensity shadow in Desdemona has been one of my go-to looks for a lot of November. They look amazing together. And if I wanted to give them a extra touch of dimension, I patted on a tiny amount of MAC’s loose pigment in Blue-Green. Oh my God; this combo is gorgeous!
For more natural days, I have loved the Chanel Quad in Tisse Dimensions. I’ve had this quad a while but haven’ really used it that much. It’s such a pretty quad with very wearable shades within it. And that silver really packs a punch; I’ve been wearing this on its own or worn quite sheer over the matte shades to add a hint of sparkle. It’s just so pretty! And to make sure that this quad stayed put, I refell in love with the Benefit Stay Don’t Stray eyelid primer. It blends out beautifully and leaves a lovely smooth, matte base for eyeshadows to really cling to.
For brows, I have preferred a more natural look, since I have just had them tinted and waxed quite recently. However, to fill them in slightly, I have adored the Benefit Ka-Brow. Although this can be used to give you very sharp on point brows, I tend to just swipe this quickly through my brows to fill them in a bit. And I know that I can trust this to stay put throughout the day since it is water resistant.
With mascaras, I’m using another old favourite combo; the Urban Decay Perversion and Subversion duo. For people who really don’t get the results from using Perversion on it’s own, I would recommend buying the lash primer. They work so well together and remove the need for false lashes. I absolutely love these mascaras. They don’t clump on me, and they don’t smudge. I love them so much!
I didn’t really use too many lip products last month. Yes later on I started wearing a lot of reds, but they’ll be included in my December favourites. Earlier in the month I tended to swap between Clinique’s Sparkle Pop and The Body Shop’s Matte Lip Liquid in Crete Carnation. Both are beautiful and last a long time on the lips, especially considering that one of them is a tinted lip balm! They are so pretty and went with almost every eyeshadow look that I wore this month.
And finally, since my Dior Lip Glow ran out this month, I purchased something slightly cheaper in the form of the Body Shop Hemp Lip Balm. This works just as well as the Dior product at ta fraction of the price. It just really helps prep the lips ready for lipstick. I love it.
So those are all of my beauty favourites this month. I’m really sorry that this has been a long post, and I will try and keep things shorted next month.
I hope that you’re all enjoying your day, and I’ll see you tomorrow.
