Sugar Plum Makeup Tutorial

Hello again!

Christmas Day is creeping even closer!

It’s time for my second Christmas themed makeup tutorial. This one is a really soft colourful eye with a neutral lipgloss. The eyes did remind me a bit of the sugar plum fairy musical, so I thought it would be perfect as oneof my seasonal tutorials.

So enough chit chat, and I’ll get on with it.

To prime my face I used The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Primer, blending it in with my fingers. Over this I used the Body Shop’s Fresh Nude Foundation, and hid any blemishes with the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. I set this in place using the Dior Diorskin Forever and Ever Powder.

To give my face some depth I used the gorgeous Smashbox Contour kit, using the contour shade in my cheek bones, blending this out until you could hardly see it. Over this I applied my Liz Earle Radiant Glow Bronzer, concentrating this more on my cheek bones and forehead.

I actually applied my highlight prior to blush, since this was a liquid highlight, which I actually think looks better under a matte blush. My highlighter of choice was the Smashbox Halo Wand in Gold. I applied this with a damp sponge to make it as natural as possible.

To finish off the face I buffed a few light layers of the Bare Minerals Ready Blush in The Indecent Proposal.

For my brows I took a little of the Bare Minerals Brow Definer Pencil to shape my brows a bit and set them with the Benefit ready Set Brow gel.

For the eyes, I first used a Bare Minerals Loose Shadow in the shade Wearable Plum to define my cream. I blended this out until it looked really soft. I also took this shade along my lower lash line too.

On the lid, I then took the shade Phoebe from the Nars Dual Intensity collection and patted this onto the lid. This is such a gorgeous shade! And to darken the outer corner further I took Subra, which is also a Nars Dual Intensity eyeshadow.

I did want a little liquid liner, but didn’t want anything too harsh, so I used my old trick and dampened a liquid liner brush and dipped it in Subra. This gave a lovely soft plum liner.

Instead of using a nude shade to highlight the inner corner, I used a lilac shade again and patted a tiny amount of Heart by Bare Minerals into the inner corner. I truly love the loose pigments from Bare Minerals. They’re gorgeous and so easy to work with.

As for mascara, I first used Clinique’s Flutter to Full Mascara on it’s lightest setting to define my upper and lower lashes. I then took the blue mascara from the YSL Vinyl Couture collection and applied this quite generously to my upper lashes.

To finish things off I applied a Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Laque in the shade Babe Idole. For lipglosses these are surprisingly long lasting, and really hydrating on the lips. I loved it!

And that is my second Christmas tutorial. What would you like to see next?

Have a lovely day guys!
