First Impressions Makeup Look

Hi everyone. Please excuse the messy hair; I’ve just gotten in from the Metro Centre and couldn’t find my brush.

I have bought a few odds and ends lately that were either new releases or new products for me and I tried to use the majority of them in this look.

Today I wanted to share some first impressions regarding some of the items.

Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation

I have been using this for a few days now, trying to figure out the best way to apply it. Fingers is a no go; it’s too full coverage. If you want more of a natural finish, apply with a damp sponge. If you want fuller coverage, apply with a flat foundation brush. Buffing brushes made this go a bit streaky on me.

This is a lovely foundation, although it packs some serious full coverage. Only half a pump is enough for the full face, especially when applying with a sponge. I always have a fair amount left on my hand at the end. This dries matte, but doesn’t feel drying on the skin. I’ve also not been using primer with this as it actually leaves weird bumps of product on the skin with this. It has great staying power without need of a primer anyway.

I will keep using this and see how it fares in different situations.

Zoeva Rodeo Belle Eyeshadow Palette

I used some of these shades in today’s look. I’ve had my eye on this palette for ages, and finally decided to treat myself to it.

Apart from three of the shades popping loose (fixed with a bit of superglue), this palette is stunning. The shades are really easy to blend out and have a gorgeous amount of pigment. The pink shade is beautiful in the crease, although I can’t wait to try it all over the lid.

I do like the fact that you have a good selection of mattes and shimmery shades in here so this really could be the only palette that you need for most eye looks.

I love the packaging of this palette too. It’s really slim and quite sturdy; ideal for travelling.

Zoeva Mixed Metals Palette

This is a palette of khaki greens and gold. I had to have it!

I won’t go into too much depth about this palette because my thoughts on it are the same as the other palette.

All shades in here are shimmery, apart from a matte black. This is lovely teamed up with Rodeo Belle. The shades work really well together.

L’Oreal Infallible Eye Paint

When I saw these, they reminded me of the Urban Decay Moondust Liners.

These are a glittery liquid eyeshadow range that you apply to the eyes with a wand. The wand looks like a lipgloss wand, but a tiny bit thicker. It’s a nice shape for being precise or for going all out on the eyelid. I used the gold shade all over my eye, fixing it with a gold eyeshadow from Mixed Metals, and I used the white one in my inner corner.

Once these set in place, they don’t budge, so be quick if you want to blend them out!

These are quite a cool idea, and I can’t wait to use the purple and teal shade. I think these will go nicely with the Full Spectrum palette.

Bare Minerals Gen Nude Collection

I completed a full review on this line, so I won’t say much.

Today I used the ‘Addicted’ liner with Swank Liquid Lipstick and Heartbreaker Buttercream.

I think these products layer well, and don’t transfer to weird areas of the face throughout the day. They truly are amazing!

What new releases have you been buying lately?

Have a lovely day guys!
