Hi everyone! Happy New Year! How is 2017 treating you so far?
It’s that time of the month where I share my monthly favourites; beauty and non’beauty; and I’ve got quite a mixed bag this month.
As always, I’ll try and keep things brief, but you guys know that I tend to ramble!
My sister bought me this for my birthday. It’s a really pretty candle handler that requires a small tea light to glow. This gives such a beautiful glow to the room, and I tend to have it burning as I do my makeup in the morning, and as I’m falling asleep at night. I find it really relaxing and it’s a great focus point for my hypnosis apps. My sister has told me that this is meant to help with anxiety, which I can understand; it does make me feel calmer at times but I tend to find candles relaxing anyway. It’s still such a beautiful candle though.
Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation
I finally decided that I love this foundation. Being a dry to combination girl I wasn’t entirely sure how this would react with my skin in the long-term, with this being a more dry formula than what I’m used to. This gives such a beautiful finish on my skin and helps me look really flawless. No redness tends to show through this and it lasts through some pretty harsh conditions. I have found that the best way to apply this is with a damp beauty blender and no thick silicone texture-feeling primer. It works wonderfully with the Laura Mercier Radiance Primer. If you’re still unsure about it, ask for a sample to give it a good try.
Twinings Spiced Ginger Tea
I can’t stand regular tea. I know, I’m a bad British person! I do love herbal teas though. One that me and my Mam have been loving this month has been the Spiced Ginger Tea. It tastes amazing; it’s quite sweet but spicy at the same time without being too overpowering. It’s actually the perfect Winter warmer tea.
Votive Yankee Candles
Another candle! In my room I have seven small candle holders… yes, seven! And that isn’t including the ones that I use to store lipglosses in! In these I tend to use votive style candles. They last a really long time, and are a great way of testing scents prior to buying a large candle. This month I have been loving the Yankee Candle Votives. They have some beautiful scents which really help warm up the room. I have loved the scents ‘Festive Cocktail’ and ‘Icicle.’ They have been so lovely and really made me smile when I walk in my room a few hours after they were burning.
Chanel Poison Girl
I rarely buy perfume, but for Christmas this year I treat myself to a new bottle of something that I wouldn’t normally buy for myself. I bought my first Chanel scent. I have had my eye on this scent since it released last year, and used my Christmas money to treat myself. This is a very strong scent, so I do need to use it very lightly, or apply before makeup because it tends to make me sneeze. It’s a really lovely fruity scent that does last a good few hours.
Netflix Lemony Snicket Series
I have three series in my favourites this month. The first one that I was obsessed with is the Lemony Snicket Series of Unfortunate Event. I loved these books growing up and actually squealed when I saw that a series was being made with Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf. Honestly, this series portrayed the books perfectly, and the things that were changed made sense for the story. I actually watched this in a whole day, which doesn’t normally happen. I loved the cast in this; everything was perfect, and I loved the theme tune. It was just brilliant, and had so many twists that I didn’t see coming (and I’ve read the books)!
Liz Earle Radiant Glow Bronzer
This has been a long-term favourite. I don’t think that I really use other bronzers these days. This just gives such a natural, pretty glow. I tend to use this to warm up my face in a figure of 3 shape on both sides of my face. It just looks stunning all year round.
Marks and Spencers Suede Knee-high Boots
I got some new boots for Christmas. I have a black pair and a brown pair, and they’re both really soft. These are so comfortable for longer walks and really help keep my feet warm. I also find that these don’t slip down my leg or pinch my thigh if I wear them too long. They’re just fab!
Bare Minerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lipcolour in Juju
I do have a ‘couple’ of the Gen Nude collection now. Oops! However, my most worn one is the shade Juju. It’s such a pretty dark mauve shade. It’s perfect for adding a subtle pop of colour to the face when everything else is quite toned down. I love this matte formula too; it just lasts such a long time and doesn’t smudge.
Cream Radley Bag
This was another Christmas present, and I love it. It’s the ideal size for the things that I carry and isn’t too bulky to become overly heavy. I love how there are three compartments, two of which zip up, so I can keep valuables in these bits, and the not so valuable stuff in the open part.
Maria Nila Cream Heat Spray
This was something that I picked up at the hairdressers. I’d never heard of Maria Nila before but I always love how good my hair feels after it’s been washed and styled with her products. As my hair has grown longer, I’ve noticed that it does tangle quite a bit, and when I asked advise from my hairdresser, he showed me this spray. Yes it’s a heat spray, but it also helps heal your hair and keep it at it’s best. It also helps brushes go through the hair a bit smoother without causing breakages. I have loved using it a lot! It has made brushing my hair much less painful. It also smells like strawberries and cream, which is an added bonus. I love nice smelling products.
Netflix Jessica Jones
My boyfriend actually told me about this one. He’d watched it a few days before me and it sounded worth a watch. This is a Marvel Universe series based on a PI who has super powers. She is attempting to find someone who is abducting young women in New York. It does have a lot of twists and turns which made this a pretty intense show to watch. There is also quite a few sex-scenes in this, so it may not be the best thing to watch with family. But it is an awesome show.
Becca’s Champagne Pop
I’ve started wearing this a lot more lately, and it’s still a beautiful product. I tend to apply this with a fan brush, otherwise it does look a bit much. This is just such a pretty highlighter and eyeshadow for days where you just need a lot of glow.
I have done this for two months now, and although it’s been a lot of trial and error (and three note books) I have loved the full Bullet Journal system. It really fits into my ways of processing tasks, and has kept me a bit more organised when it comes to blogging. My favourite pages have been my daily task tracker and my relaxation tips page.
Netflix Van Helsing
This is the final show on here, and I just finished this series last night. It is awesome! If you love alternative Vampire legend stuff, you’ll love this. It’s based three years in the future after Vampires have pretty much made humans their slaves. It does have it’s silly moments (and one part that reminds me a lot of Barb Wire) but I can look past these things since the show is so cool and fun to watch. There are some amazing characters in this, including the character Sam who I loved. I thought he was a brilliant character, but you’ll have to watch it to find out why.
Bare Minerals Original Eyeshadows
I’ve gone back to using some old favourite eyeshadows this month. I love how easy these are to use, and for loose pigments they have very little fallout. I still love the shades Heart, and I discovered Drama this month which is such a beautiful shade. These blend out beautifully and look stunning on the eyes.
And those are my January favourites. What are some of your favourites this month?
Hope you all have a lovely day guys!
