Attempting YouTube Glamour

We have all seen the full coverage glamour Queens of social media. I’m thinking of particularly YouTube and Instagram: Jaclyn Hill, Manny MUA, Jeffrey Starr, Patrick Star, Nikki Tutorials…. the list goes on. They all have a particular style that they love to use on themselves.

These are those looks that look really put together and very glamorous, but use a lot of techniques and products to get to that stage of flawlessness.

You guys know that I like to look like myself, except with the odd change to my eyeshadow. But all the same, everything is just me. I don’t do heavy contouring and mapping, or even false lashes. Those things just aren’t me and what I like. I’m not saying don’t do those things; if they work for you and you love that style, go for it; each to their own. It’s just not a look I feel confident wearing.

However, I did give it a try.

My usual routine takes about 30 to 45 minutes. This took close to 2 hours! I couldn’t believe it when I looked up at the clock and saw the time!

This isn’t a tutorial. I just wanted to share a trial look based on YouTube glam.

I gave my best shot at mapping, baking and contouring. I even applied some false lashes, which made me look like an alien and really irritated my eyes!

However, apart from the insane lashes, the look didn’t look too bad. Although it wasn’t worth sitting at my vanity for that length of time.  I definitely prefer my more natural makeup looks on me.

What are your thoughts on YouTube Glamour? Is it something that you personally do?

Let me know.

Bye for now guys.

  1. I see the instagram stars and famous beauty vloggers as living advertisements. They are beautiful to look at, but their styles are kind of unrealistic for life. And if everyone did their make up like them, it would get real boring, real fast.
