I grew up in the 90’s at a bit of a tomboy, not really a girl that much into makeup. You’ve seen the photos! However, I bought a few odds and ends from Rimmel the other day; one being the Magnif’eyes Grunge Glamour palette and it inspired me to channel my inner 90’s girl and create a grungey brown smoky eye look.
The majority of products are drugstore, in preparation for something starting tomorrow…..
…. But anyway, onto the tutorial!
I always remember people being quite pale in the 90’s. When you lived on episodes of Buffy and Angel, what do you expect! So I used one of my paler foundations mixed with a drop of The Body Shop’s Honey Drops Liquid Bronzer. The foundation I used was the Chanel Perfection Lumiere. Under my eyes I applied a light amount of Bare Minerals Stroke of Light Concealer. To set everything I used the Maybelline Matte Maker Powder.
To add a small amount of definition to my face I buffed the Model’s Own Sculpt and Glow Contour Powder under my cheek bones. I really love this powder even though it’s one of the deeper shades, it’s actually the perfect shade for contouring. For a touch of Blush I used the Model’s Own Rock n’ Rosy Blush in Warm Almond, which is such a gorgeous subtle rosy glow. And to finish off the face I dusted a light layer of Laura Mercier’s Illuminating Powder in Indiscretion on the tops of my cheekbones.
For my eyebrows I used a touch of the Maybelline Brow Drama Pencil, then filled in any sparser areas with the Benefit Brow Zings powder. I set everything into place using the Benefit Gimme Brow.
On he eyes, I first took the shade Lethal from the Urban Decay Ultimate Basics in my crease area. Then on the actual lid I took the Magnif’eye Grunge Glamour palette and patted the plum shade all over the lid, blending out the edges quite messily. On the lower lash line, I first blended out the matte grey shade over the full lash line, then applied a small amount of the black to the outer corner. I then took the same plum shade and went over everything. I blended everything together with a fluffier pencil brush.
In my waterline, I used the Bare Minerals Round the Clock liner in 5pm, which is an eggplant type of colour. On the upper lash line I took the L’Oreal Ultra Precision Liner in Black and drew a thin line, ending at the end of my lashes.
For mascara I used the new Rimmel Volume Shake Mascara which is gorgeous! Although it has got to be the heaviest mascara ever! It doesn’t clump at all, no matter how many layers that you apply.
I first outlined my lips using Bare Minerals Gen Nude Lip Liner in Attitude before going over this with Rimmel’s Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick in the shade 48.
And that is my finished grungey makeup look. What do you think?
Hope you all have a lovely day, and I’ll see you tomorrow for the start of drugstore week.
Bye for now!
