Amarantha Inspired Makeup Tutorial

Though lovely, she wasn’t as devastatingly beautiful as I had imagined, wasn’t some goddess of darkness and spite. It made her all the more petrifying.

Today, I had a go at one of the two female villains in the book series. Amarantha is a very creepy, very evil woman who lives in an underground kingdom of horror. Her chapters aren’t very nice in the books but I still wanted to include her in this series.

Since Amarantha lives underground, and has done for more than fifty years I imagined her being very pale. I mixed my No7 Lift and Luminate Foundation with a drop of The Body Shop’s Lightening Drops.  Under my eyes, I applied a small amount of Collection’s Lasting Perfection Concealer, setting it with the Makeup Revolution Luxury Banana Powder. To set the foundation I mixed a small amount of the Banana Powder with the Bourjois Rice Powder. This added a slight bit of luminosity to the skin without looking too glittery.

To contour, I used the Models Own Sculpt and Glow Matte Powder in Deep Tan, keeping it quite sharp near the bottom but buffing it out at the top. For blush I used Charlotte Tilbury’s Cheek to Chic in Love is the Drug but kept things very light. I didn’t want a lot of colour on her face.

To highlight, I used the cool toned Nars Multiple Stick in Copacabana, applying this to my cheeks and nose.

I kept my eyebrows quite sharp, using the Benefit Precisely Brows Pencil to shape them, and the Benefit Ka-Brow to fill them in a bit more. I set them in place with the clear brow gel from Fleur de Force’s Brow Tamer. To highlight my brow bone, I used the Benefit High Brow which sharpened any rough edges left from the brow products.

On my eyes, I packed the matte burgundy shade from the Nars Sarah Moon Eyeshadow duo in Indes Galantes across my lid. I buffed out the edges and created a slight triangle in the outer edge of my eye. I then took the steel shade in the palette and packed that into the centre of my eyelid. Along my lower lashline I used that burgundy colour again, making sure it was quite soft, but matched up with the triangle on the upper lid.

For mascara, I used a lot of layers of the L’Oreal Fibre X Mascara. On my lower lashes, I used the Bare Minerals Lash Domination Petite Precision mascara.

I first lined my lips using the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Foxy Brown, matching it with the Matte Revolution lipstick in Burkin Brown.

And since I have imagined Amarantha having a slight red undertone to her lips, I used Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Lustre in Unleash Me.

So that is the first villain in my A Court of Thorns and Roses series. The other villain that I plan to do is Ianthe, but I’ll leave her until next week. I’m going to try and do the other two ladies from the Court of Dreams and Feyre’s sisters before then.

Have a lovely day guys!

Bye for now!
