When You’re Just Not Feeling Your Best

Red skin….. tired eyes….. dry lips….. feeling absolute shit….

We’ve all had those days where we just feel absolutely crap; whether that is due to our health or our emotions.. we’ve all had bad days.

Well, today was mine. My skin felt red raw from trying to remove the residue of the Aiveyo Face Mask from my face. I had just finished a night shift, so my under-eyes were really shadowed and my lips looked like they had aged fifty years over night. Seriously skin… what the hell are you trying to do to me???

Before applying any makeup, a great base is essential. In past experience, applying makeup on non-prepped skin can make for a very ‘meh’ makeup day. Since my skin was feeling a bit raw, I massaged the final remnants of my Bare Minerals Active Cell Renewal Night Serum into my skin, followed my the Body Shop Hemp Face Protector and Drops of Youth Eye Serum under my eyes. As for the lips, I used a little bit of Nivea Lip Balm.

I did go for a lighter foundation, opting to erase any redness with primer and concealer. The primer was an old favourite in the form of the Bare Minerals Prime Time BB Primer. This was a bit dark for me, but it did reduce the redness around my cheeks quite considerably. For a tad extra coverage, I buffed two really light layers of my Bare Minerals Original Foundation into my face. This foundation is amazing, and it blended out beautifully over the top of the primer. As my under eye circles were still peeping through I dabbed a generous amount of the L’Oreal Infallible Concealers under my eyes, blending out with my fingers. I used the two lighter shades. I do find that this does not tug at my fine lines, and does give a very natural finish even though it is full coverage.

For the rest of my face, I did keep things very natural in an attempt to not draw attention to my very tired face.

What are your tips and tricks for hiding bad skin days?

Have a lovely day guys!
