New Look Super Matte Liquid Lipstick: Raspberry

Liquid Lipsticks truly are the Nutella of the makeup world. We either love them or hate them. So many formulas are really drying and without proper prepping of the lip area, can age you quite a lot.

I created a list of liquid lipstick formulas that I do like and don’t have that moisture destroying effect on the lips. This post is for those who have a few liquid lipsticks but hate how drying they can be. I have found two ways that I can wear them and find them bearable.

Gloss it Over

This does defeat the object of matte lips however by adding something hydrating over the top of a matte product, it instantly breaks down that dry formula and creates a richly pigmented lip lacquer effect. The best formulas for this that I have found are the Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipglosses, Dior’s Lip Addict Gloss and Blistex Lip Balm. Anything with a hydrating property will work though.

Stain

I find that the more intense liquid lipstick shades stain your lips after wearing them; especially berries and reds. If the dryness is too much, gently wipe it away with a tissue (the dryer formulas do tend to crumble away) and you will find a pretty stain left on the lips. Add a balm over the top if you want. I tend to find that the stain is quite pretty. You could also take a tiny amount from the applicator them blend it into the lips with your finger. You get the colour without the intense dryness.

What ways do you like to wear liquid lipsticks?

Have a lovely day guys!
