Mid-Yearly Favourites

Hi Guys, how are you all feeling today?

I cannot believe that we’re almost halfway through 2017 already! Where has this year gone?

At the end of the year, I always share my annual favourite makeup items. However a year is a really long time, and my makeup bag changes quite a lot in that time. And I may forget about something that I really loved at the beginning of the year, and favour something else by December. Therefore, I have picked all my favourites from the beginning of the year, and shared my thoughts on each one.

I actually have three foundations that I have really loved so far. All three are medium to full coverage products, which I’ve really been into this year. The first is the super full coverage Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation which I know was a very controversial product; you either love it or hate it. However I really enjoyed it. I apply it with a beauty blender and without a primer. This is a very matte product so it does last all day without the need of a primer anyway. It also looks really beautiful.

The next favourite is an old favourite; the Bare Minerals Original Foundation. This is such a beautiful glowy foundation that gives such a long-lasting coverage. Since my ultimate favourite foundation from Bare Minerals has been discontinued, I have been reaching for this more and more. I love the way this looks on my skin, and how healthy it makes me look with a minimal amount of product.

The final foundation favourite is No7’s Lift and Luminate Foundation. This is beautiful! It is so dewy but doesn’t make you look sweaty. This does have anti-aging properties in it too so it does help smooth any fine lines on the skin. It’s absolutely stunning!

This will come as no surprise but the only concealer that I have loved this year is the Superdrug BB Eye Cream. This is amazing! It has a decent amount of coverage and blends out so easily under the eyes. It doesn’t crease either, which makes it amazing in my eyes!

This is quite a recent discovery, but I love it so much! This is the New Look High Definition Finishing Face Powder. This does such a good job at blurring out imperfections on the skin and helps my foundation last a really long time.

My favourite primers are actually a collection. These are the Collection Primed and Ready Primers. They are amazing. I love the pore minimising one, which is such a good dupe for the Smashbox one that I love. It just feels amazing on the skin, and really does create a tacky surface for foundation to cling to. One of the ingredients in them is witch hazel, which dos help reduce blemishes forming on the skin.

Face Colour Powders

It’s time to talk about all things bronzer, blush and highlight. There are four altogether. My two favourite bronzers are the Models Own Sculpt and Glow Matte Bronzing Powder and the Liz Earle Radiant Glow Bronzer. Both of these products look really natural on the skin and give a really healthy glow to the skin. I could honestly use the worst brushes with these bronzers, and they would still blend beautifully on the skin.

My favourite blush is still my favourite formula of all time. Urban Decay’s After Hour Blushers are some of the most richly pigmented, blendable products on the market. They last a really long time on the skin and look stunning. I am obsessed with the shade Fetish, which is a really pretty mauve shade.

As for highlighter, I have been reaching for the Dior Diorskin Illuminator quite a lot lately. It’s so beautiful, and the perfect glowy highlighter for pale skinned makeup lovers. It looks really natural but can be built up if you prefer a wam bam glam glow.

Everybody knows how obsessed I am with eye makeup. It is my favourite part of my face to experiment with. So starting from the top, my favourite brow products have been a combo of the Benefit Precisely Brows Pencil and Lancome’s Sourcil Styler. Together these give beautiful, natural yet fuller looking eyebrows. They are absolutely amazing.

As for eyeshadow, I chose three palettes which I have used the most this year so far. I love them all for the same reasons; the quality of each shadow is amazing and they last a really long time on my oily eyelids. These three palettes are Jeffree Star’s Andogryny Palette, Zoeva’s Rodeo Belle and Nars’ Narssist Loaded Palette. All three are such amazing quality and I love the shade selections available within them.

2017 has definitely been the year that I have played around without liquid eyeliner. I may have perfected my winged liner look (or at least got close to it). My favourite one has been the Bourjois Liner Feutre. This is the blackest of black liners. It applies flawlessly and gives such amazing crisp edges. It’s gorgeous!

The mascara favourite is quite a recent one, but it trumps all other mascaras from this year. I have loved the PUR Cosmetics Fully Charged mascara. This gives such full looking lashes without the need of primers or eyelash curlers. It doesn’t smudge or clump, and it will last all day, although removes easily with a cleanser/ micellar water.

Liquid Lipsticks

I finally got into the hype with liquid lipsticks this year, and as you might have read in my longevity post, there have been some hits and misses. There have been four formulas that have really stood out this year. The cheapest one was the Nyx Soft Cream Liquid Lipstick. I love the shade range in these and the longevity. These feel so comfortable too, and look amazing.

Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks also impressed me with their comfortability and the shade ranges. These are the most kiss-proof formula that I have come across and they do last all day.  I definitely want more of these in the future.

Another favourite was the Bare Minerals Gen Nude Liquid Lipsticks. These are not as long-lasting as the others here, but I still love the formula and the colours. They are so comfortable to wear and the packaging is beautiful and classy.

The final one is the Smashbox All Day Liquid Lipsticks. I love the shade Big Spender. The formula is very similar the Kat Von D’s but a lot thicker. I still really love it though. The shades are beautiful, and in true Smashbox fashion; they have something for everyone.

I don’t wear a lot of lipglosses, however the only formula that I have worn and felt comfortable in this year is the Bare Minerals Buttercream Lipglosses. These look stunning! They have enough pigment to be worn on their own, and don’t feel too sticky on the lips. I love the taste of these too; they’re kinda chocolatey.

As much as I have enjoyed exploring liquid lipsticks this year, you can’t beat a traditional lipstick. I have two that really impressed me this year so far. The first being the Bare Minerals Gen Nude Collection. It took a lot to convince me that these would be better than the Moxie collection, but they are. They look really glossy and beautiful without being smudgy. They are really hydrating, and flatter a lot of different skin tones.

My other favourite has been the Lancome L’Absolut Rouge. These are beautiful. I have three of them and I love the colours. The packaging is so unique but still looks so classy and French. They are really hydrating too, and last a really long time on the lips.

I have one lip liner favourite this year and that is the L’Oreal Rich Lip Liner Couture. These apply beautifully and there are quite a few shades to match most traditional lipstick shades. They really help your lipstick last longer on the lips and don’t dry out your mouth too much. They are so beautiful and really easy to work with.

So those are all of my favourite items so far this year. What are yours?

Have a lovely day guys, and enjoy the rest of 2017.

  1. I’ve literally been meaninfg to try out the Adrogony pallet and that benefit liner since they came out! 😩I just haven’t been to sephora in so long! Strongly in need of a (not so) quick trip to pick up a couple things.
