Our routines change as the months go on, and we discover new products. At the moment I am using some relatively new skincare that I’ve been loving, and a few new base products. They have been working for me for at least a month so I wanted to share my latest routine with you guys.
Skincare is something that I take really seriously. I get really dry skin that becomes sensitive at the drop of a hat. Therefore I really don’t like to change things up too much. The Body Shop released a new range a fair few months ago called the Drops of Light Collection. Like the Drops of Youth, it is slightly pricier than the regular collections in store, however they are worth every penny. This collection really helps tackle redness, dullness and dryness in the skin. I have noticed a considerable difference since incorporating these three products in my routine. I use the Purely Translucent Essence Lotion as a serum, and massage that into the face and neck. I then drop two drops of the Pure Healthy Brightening Serum onto my hand and massage this into the face. I then use the Day Cream, which is beautiful. It smells amazing and sinks straight into the skin.
The Drops of Youth Eye Serum has been a firm favourite for many months now; this is in fact my second tube of the stuff. I love how my makeup applies over the top and how healthy my under eye area looks when I use it.
To prep my lips, I have been using the ELF Mint Lip Scrub, which feels amazing, removing all the dead dry skin on my lips. It just feels so satisfying to use. I then add the moisture back with a lip balm, which tend to be any that I reach for first.
I’m a firm believer in the fact that if you apply your base products right, all the rest of your makeup will glide on flawlessly. These are products that I have been loving throughout June.
I have been obsessed with the ELF Tone Adjusting Face Primer. This is lilac and does an amazing job at brightening up my skin, but fills in any pores that happen to show around my nose. It’s brilliant stuff, and relatively cheap.
What isn’t cheap however is my current foundation. I have been alternating between the Lancome Teint Miracle and the Dior Forever Foundations. Both give a beautiful medium coverage that looks flawless. I apply these using a beauty sponge to get the best effect.
Under my eyes I have been mixing the Maybelline Erase Eye Concealer with the Superdrug BB Eye Cream. Together these give a lovely shade under my eyes that looks brightening but well concealed. I had just finished my stint of night shifts here, so any help to cover my under eye baggies was appreciated.
The final step for my base is to set the foundation and concealer. I have two shades in the Bare Minerals Bareskin Powder. I use the lighter one to set my concealer and nose, and the darker one to set the rest of my face. This just adds a subtle highlight before adding all the glitter.
And that is all the steps to creating my base makeup at the moment. I know it looks really weird and flat until all the other products are placed on top.
What products to you use to achieve your base?
Have a lovely day guys and take care.
