The hot weather is here again and I’m celebrating with one of my favourite colours; orange!
I remember when little indie makeup brands used to set up shop in Debenhams and sell to anyone they could lure into their stall. I haven’t seen them there for a long time, but you used to get some really nice stuff. I remember one product that I bought was a bright orange blush which I actually used to use for eyeshadow. It was matte, and I used to apply it straight across my lids with little blending (this was back when I was beginning to wear a bit more makeup).
Orange is still one of my favourite colours, although I tend not to wear it as much as turquoise or gold. However today I embraced my makeup loving roots and grabbed a few orange tones…. well two of them, and created this look.
For primer I used the Elf Brightening Lilac Primer to blur out any pores and make my skin look a little bit more awake. Over the top of this I used the Dior Forever Foundation, which I have been loving lately; it truly is flawless without being cakey. I use the shade 25 if you are a similar skin tone to me. Under my eyes I blended out my old faithful Superdrug BB Eye Cream with a damp sponge.
To set my makeup I used the Makeup Revolution Luxe Banana Powder mixed with a touch of the New Look HD Powder.
For bronzer I buffed out a few light layers of the Dior Nude Air Glow Powder in 01, concentrating on my cheeks and neck. For blush, I took Urban Decay’s Afterhour Blush in Fetish, blending this out on the apples of my cheeks and up to my eat. I did keep this quite sheer since my eyes and lips are really bright. To highlight my face I took the highlighter from the Maybelline Master Blush Palette, using a compacted highligher brush for the ultimate glow. I also took a small amount of this highlighter down my nose and along my cupid’s bow.
For eyebrows, I actually filled them in with powder since pencil really isn’t working on my eyebrows lately. I took the Benefit Brow Zings, and dusted this through my eyebrows, keeping the most colour on the arch. I set them in place using the Lancome Sourcil Styler.
To prime my eyelids I used the MUA Lid Primer, blending it out with my finger, and setting it with my face powder. I then took the Urban Decay Electric Palette and took the shade Slowburn on a fluffy brush, placing this in my crease, making sure the edges were nice and buffed out. I then took a more compact brush and placed Slowburn on my lid and lower lash line. In my inner corner I used a touch of the highlighter from my face to highlight that area.
I then took the No7 Stay Perfect Gel Eyeliner and drew a thickish line along my upper lashes before giving my eyelashes back their length using the Lancome Monsieur Big mascara. Honestly, this mascara is beautiful; if you haven’t got it already, grab it! To tightline my lower lash line, I ran the Rodial Eye Pen roughly along it.
I kept things really simple with my lipstick and used the Urban Decay Sheer Lipstick Revolution in Slowburn. Yes this matches the eyeshadow exactly. I did fancy using Bang which holds more pigment, but I quite liked the idea of my lipstick and eyeshadow having the same name!
What do you think? Do I still suit a full eye of just orange? Is it something that you would do?
Have a lovely day guys!
