I haven’t had a proper play with makeup in a fairly long time. Today I wanted to do something very glowy and very summery using a few of the items mentioned in a recent post.
I’ve kept the skin very light and luminous and added colour with the eyes and lips. This is probably one of my favourite looks this year and I hope you enjoy it too.
For primer, I blended out a few pumps of the ELF Brightening Lavender Primer using my fingers. I never use a brush for primer, since I feel that the fingers warm up the primer much better, allowing it to blend into the skin better.
As for foundation I used the No7 Lift & Luminate Foundation, initially applying it with a brush, but once concealer was applied, I blended it out with a sponge to keep things looking airbrushed and pretty. I’m not even going to mention concealer because you should all know which one is my ride or die concealer! Everything was set into place using a light coat of the Makeup Forever Ultra HD Powder.
To bronze up my skin I buffed a generous layer of the Bare Minerals Invisible Bronzer in a C shape across my cheeks and down my neck. I hot anywhere that the sun would bronze naturally. For blush, I swept a few coats of the Benefit Galifornia Blush onto the apples of my cheeks and up towards my ear. This is such a pretty summer shade. I absolutely love it. Since this was a glowy face look, it wouldn’t be complete without a touch of Becca Shimmering Face Perfector in Prosecco Pop.
I used quite a few products and palettes on my eyes. And I regret nothing!
I kept my brows pretty much the same way that I have been doing them all year. Nothing has changed.
I first applied a lid primer to my eyelids and set that with a bone eyeshadow from the Zoeva Matte Spectrum palette (MT020). In the upper crease I applied a mixture of MT050 and MT080 which are warm orange shades. On the lower lid, I applied the shade MT130, which is a matte turquoise shade.
On the upper lid I packed the shade Rosewood from Natasha Denona’s Purple-Blue Palette, softening the edges slightly with a blending brush. And since this is the season for glitter I applied a touch of Stila’s Magnificent Metals Liquid Eyeshadow in Kitten Karma over the top, fixing it into place with the Beauty Bakery Glitter Glue.
On my lower lashline I used the Buxom eyeshadow Schmooze and Backstage Pass to create a deep turquoise shade, keeping the edges very soft. In the inner corner, I applied a tiny amount of Room Service, softening it with my finger.
To finish off my eyes I applied a few generous coats of the Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara and the Clinique Flutter to Full mascara. Together these created a very luscious lash look.
As for lips, I wouldn’t be being honest to myself if I didn’t do a bright cherry red lip. It’s what I really enjoy wearing and it worked well with this eye look. I first drew out my lips using the Makeup Forever Aqua Lips Liner in 8C, and applied the Artist Acrylic Lip Paint in 400 over the top. These shades really compliment each other so well. I am in love with this colour!
What are your thoughts on this look? I can’t wait to start playing around with makeup again so let me know any other looks that you would be interested in seeing.
Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you tomorrow.
Bye for now!
