The Nostalgic Makeup Face

Hi guys! How are you all this morning?

I have seen many variations of this post circling around here or on Youtube for a few months and it has made me think about the sort of makeup that I used to wear in my early blogging days. These are items that I used to love; and some I may still love today.

I created a makeup look using these items and I wanted to share what my thoughts are on them these days.

FOUNDATION: Nars Sheer Glow

I don’t wear this as often as I used to because I found other foundations that I prefer. However, this does still apply beautifully and covers a number of sins. Since it is still technically Summer, it’s dewy finish wasn’t out of place.

CONCEALER: Bare Minerals Stroke of Light

I have gone back to using this quite recently so this is still a firm favourite in my collection. It applies beautifully under the eyes, adding much needed life to tired eyes before a night shift.

POWDER: Bare Minerals Bareskin Powder

I went through so many compacts of this! I do still love this, but there are better setting powders on the market. This does give a lot of kickback when you swirl the brush into the powder, so it did get my jeans dirty. However this still sits on the skin really well.

BRONZER: The Body Shop Matte Honey Bronzer

I used to absolutely adore this bronzer a few years ago. The colour that I have is a bit pale so it didn’t show up on me as much as some of my prefered bronzers now. This would make an ideal bronzer for somebody getting started with makeup since it is quite forgiving.

BLUSH: Urban Decay Afterhour Blush in Video

I absolutely love this blush to this day. It’s such a subtle flush shade this suits my skin tone really well. With this being matte, I did use it slightly in the crease of my eye. No surprise, but I love the formula of this so much.

HIGHLIGHTER: Laura Mercier Face Illuminator in Indiscretion

I used to love this impulse buy back in the day; it’s stunning. What I learned over time is that it applies a lot more natural than it appears in the pan. I still love it, but it doesn’t scream sunbeams from the angels. I prefer natural looking highlights, so this is ideal for me, and I still use it every now and again.

EYEBROWS: Benefit Ka-brow

I wanted to include the Gimme Brow here, but I don’t own it anymore. This does still apply really well and gives a very structured look to my brows, or a very natural look. I still use this on occasions, but I much prefer brow pomades and pencils to this powder.

EYESHADOW: Bare Minerals Original Eyeshadow in Celery

Yes, I still have this, and I still love it. It’s such a beautiful frosty green shade which begun my love for green eyeshadow. This is so pretty and glittery and does last a really long time on my eyelids. I will never fall out of love with Bare Minerals eyeshadows. They are so beautiful.

MASCARA: Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes

Mine may be starting to dry out, but this didn’t give the full, fat lashes that it used to. Everything looked very natural, which isn’t a bad thing, but I miss the effect that this mascara used to give me. The tip of the wand is still ideal for lower lashes however.

LIPSTICK: Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Electric Pink

Smashbox Lipsticks are beautiful. They are so rich and creamy without compromising on longevity. This shade was one of the first ones purchased in this obsession, and I still love it. It’s so pretty!

LIPGLOSS: Dior Lip Maximizer

I used to use this to make my lips look bigger and then wipe it away. Now I remember why. This actually hurts and if you get any in your mouth it actually tastes awful and makes your tongue all numb. I honestly don’t like this. I much prefer the balm that I used to use every day. But this is getting passed on.

This isn’t really a challenge, but I challenge you guys to find makeup that you used to love and see if it still meets your original opinions of it.

Have a lovely day guys!
