Rimmel Stay Matte Review

Fire Starter

Hi everyone, how are you all today?

As you know, I have recently began loving liquid lipsticks more and more. I had heard that Rimmel were releasing their own version a few months ago so I ran out to Boots and picked up a few (well….. seven).

These retail at £5.99 and come in Rimmel’s regular packaging. I love the frosted finish of the container, which is similar to Bare Minerals’ Gen Nude Liquid Lipsticks. For your money you are get just under 6ml of product, which isn’t too bad. The spongey applicator is quite unusual, being longer than the average for this type of product.

Rimmel advertise their newest lipstick launch as:

Rimmel introduces Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour, a new liquid lipstick with high-intensity colour, velvety matte finish, and a long-lasting, comfortable wear. Boldness that stays on for up to 12HRs whilst also being unbelievably comfortable and lightweight.

There is a vast selection of nudes and bold shades in the range including a grey and a navy blue. My favourite shades are (surprise surprise) the bright red shade, Fire Starter and a deep plum shade called Heart Beat. Although the vast majority of shades are gorgeous. Some of the darker shades do apply quite patchy, but on the whole these do have quite a high pigment value that applies smoothly.

With a lot of true matte liquid lipstick formulas my lips tend to dry out really easily, which isn’t a hot look. However these are surprisingly comfortable and need very little touch ups through the day. I’m sure that they would last up to 12 hours if you planned on not eating that day, unfortunately I like to eat and mine started to smudge and wear away slightly around the five hour mark. The smudge-proneness of this formula does mean that it failed the kiss-proof test however on my regular days this did stay put for a fair amount of time.

Overall I do really like this formula, and the shades are beautiful for all occassions.

Have a lovely day guys!
