Hi guys! Happy New Year; here’s hoping the start of 2018 has been a good one for you all so far.
Instead of doing a my favourite products list, which can go on forever, I wanted to continue my favourite palettes series by exploring some of my other favourite categories of products.
One category that I really do have a fair few of is lip stuff. I have everything from gloss, to lip toppers and liquid lipsticks. Pretty much anything that this year threw at us, I have at least one item of. Here are ten of my favourite discoveries from last year.
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks
Kat Von D came to the UK either at the end of 2016 or the beginning of 2017; I genuinely can’t remember. However, I am so glad that she finally reached over to the UK market. Her products are so beautiful and have pretty much dominated my everyday makeup drawer since I purchased them. One of my favourite items in the collection are her liquid lipsticks. These are stunning in every way. The colour range suits everyone, they are very nourishing considering their matte formula and they are kiss-proof. I love the shade Outlaw, which is a true red shade; it is the perfect date lipstick.
Buxom Full-On Lip Polish
I did kind of move away from lipglosses over the year, however one of the few brands that I did enjoy wearing is Buxom. These lipglosses were so comfortable to wear. They weren’t sticky and they did plump up your lips slightly without the horrible tingly feeling that you get from the likes of Soap and Glory’s Sexy Mother Pucker glosses. These are stunning, and make an amazing natural lip day look quite glamorous.
Makeup Forever Aqua Rouge Waterproof Liquid Lip Colour
I absolutely love this formula. These are liquid lipsticks that can be topped with a clear gloss to make them look wet. I’m not the biggest fan of the gloss, however the liquid lip colours are beautiful. They last all day and are actually quite moisturising. My only wish is that they would bring more shades into the collection, as they are more limiting to brighter lip shades, which not everybody likes to wear. It would be nice to see a few more neutrals in the collection.
The Entire Bare Minerals Gen Nude Lip Collection
Bare Minerals did a massive revamp of their lip collection this year. They began the launch by introducing an entire nude lip collection ranging from lipgloss, liquid lipsticks, lip liners and lipsticks. The range now includes bolder colours however Bare Minerals stuck to it’s roots initially by releasing so many beautiful neutral tones. In my opinion the entire collection was gorgeous and well thought out. The lipsticks are a gorgeous subtle glossy lipstick that really bring across the name ‘your lips but better.’ The liquid lipsticks, although not really long-wearing are so comfortable and easy to apply. You will get some transfer, but I love the formula so much for an everyday matte lip, which doesn’t dry out my lips. The glosses are stunning! They have enough colour in them to be worn alone, but don’t over-power the rest of your makeup. I loved this collection so much and I can’t wait to see what Bare Minerals introduces this year.
Medusa Makeup Lip Paint
Since receiving this in the mail, I have loved this lip stick formula. Yes, it can crumble a little bit in the centre of the lip, but it applies so well that you can layer it once this begins to happen, without the formula looking claggy. This applies really thinly that it does feel like you’re wearing nothing on your lips, however the pigmentation is stunning. My next beauty bag from Medusa is due in a few days, and I can’t wait to see what I get in this package. I’m hoping there’s more of these lipsticks!
Lancome L’Absolu Rouge Cream
These were some of my favourite creamy lipsticks from the year. Lancome relanched a few of their lipstick formulas this year, but the cream one was definitely my favourite. These are so richly pigmented and last a relatively long time on the lips. Yes, they will smudge, but they are gorgeous to wear on a daily basis.
Bourjois Rouge Velvet: The Lipstick
These were really hyped up on facebook when they launched as the best matte lipstick of the year. Yes, their were some amazing liquid lipsticks throughout 2017, however not many regular lippies. Bourjois’ new launch is stunning ranging from neutrals to bold berry tones. The formula is so comfortable to wear and is really long lasting. I was surprised that it was smudge proof, which meant I wasn’t limited to liquid lippies on my first few dates with Mark. My dry lips really loved this formula, and I currently own every shade. I love them.
Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick
Again, these are another comfortable liquid lipstick that did not dry out my lips at all. I love the colour range. I did find that these smudged on me slightly throughout the day. However I loved the colours and the comfortable wearability of these that I didn’t mind needing to sort my lipstick out halfway through the day. They are gorgeous!
Models Own Luxestick Velvet Lipsticks
I discovered these at the beginning of the year, and they are beautiful. I don’t wear these very often, but when I do I always tend to have a good makeup day. They have a satin finish and are so comfortable to wear. I tend to wear these a lot for work since they are very moisturising (where I work tends to dry out my lips really easily) and you get a decent amount of colour. These are such a luxurious feeling, affordable lip product. I love this collection so much.
Maybelline x Gigi Hadid Lipsticks
I was quite reluctant to include these on the list since I just discovered these in December. However, I have loved them so far, so it seemed daft not to include them. Out of the entire collection, the lipsticks were the standout product for me. I love bright red shades and the colours Gigi selected are beautiful. These have been some of my favourite reds and I have worn them every day throughout December; they are stunning! These are a matte formula, and although they are not a long lasting formula they won’t smudge in a gross way. They look really beautiful throughout the day. I haven’t tried the neutrals in the collection, but I’m sure that they’re just as awesome.
So those are my favourite lip products of the past year. What have been some of your favourites?
Have a lovely day guys, and happy new year!
