How Old is my Makeup Part 2

Hi guys, how are you all today?

Today I wanted to revisit a post that I did a few months ago. I looked at some of the makeup in my collection and wanted to find out how old it actually is compared to when I bought it. I was actually shocked at how old some of those items were! The original post can be found here.

I have seven items here, all of which have been purchased by me in the last year. Most are just a few months old. The oldest items here are the Naked 2 palette and the MAC Pigment, which I bought in the January Sales last year. Everything else is just under six months old.

So without further adieu, let’s get on with this!

Urban Decay Naked 2

I bought this in January 2017, and I do love the colours in this palette. Unfortunately, the code has faded slightly so I can’t work out how old this is…. we’re starting things off on a high note here!

Body Shop Hemp Face Protector

I used this moisturiser every day and have purchased more tubs of this than any other product. It is my holy grail! This particular tub was bought three months ago. Once again, I can’t find this. The code that is printed on the back of my product is coming up as invalid on a few websites. I really hope that I have better luck with the next product.

Wunderbrow Gel

As you know, I bought this in a recent haul about 2 weeks ago. I am really enjoying the product, although I am still getting used to it at the moment. When I put the code into the website, the date this was made was June 2010. What the actual hell??? This is ten years old!!! I know proucts are okay as long as they stay sealed, but I can’t believe how old this actually is!

L’Oreal True Match

I bought this at the beginning of the month and I am enjoying using it so far. It took me a little while to find this, but I eventually found the date for this product. The manufature date for this is April 2012. I’m not sure if this is genuine, because I am not convinced that this foundation is that old. 6 years in a factory is pretty scary, but I am sure that sealed products are okay.

Benefit They’re Real Mascara

Okay, this is a product that has been available for a long time. I have owned this for just under three months. It’s not my favourite mascara, but it’s okay. And this was made in January 2017. This is just over a year old. That’s not too bad. I feel a bit more comfortable with this shelf life than I did for the foundation and the brow gel.

MAC Pigment in Blue Brown

This pigment is stunning. I use it for special occassions, but I really should use it more. It’s a lovely colour to add to a brown smoky eye. This has been on a shelf since November 2015. I find that pigments are okay to be a little older. I bought this a year ago, and I’m okay with something being on a shelf for just over a year before I bought it.

Urban Decay All Nighter Spray

I bought this to replace my old one a few months ago ready for my holiday in Cyprus. I love this stuff; it really is worth all of the hype. This was made in December 2016. That’s not too bad. This would have been on the shelf for about six months before I bought it. I’m okay with that.

So there were some surprising results here. I’m a little grossed out by some things, but I’m going to tell myself that they have been sealed for all that time, therefore no nasty bacteria could enter the products. I really hope that this is true, because these are things that I apply to my face.

Have a lovely day guys, and I’ll see you on Saturday.

Bye for now!

  1. Nice post idea. I can’t belive the wunderbrow gel whas that old !!! Really makes you wonder how long some stuff has been sitting in shelves! As long as they are good though and still sealed it is hopefully ok 🙂
