Prom Look #1: Turquoise Halo Eye

In the UK, Prom wasn’t really a thing until you got to my years at school; possibly the year before mine. And we shamelessly stole it from the Americans.

I had two proms growing up; well three if you include the Graduation Ball. However my main two were at 16 and 18. I’ll attach them below.

On both occasions I had a really good time with all of my friends and enjoyed the fact that exams were over; we could not relax. My Mam actually did my makeup for my Prom Nights, but if you would like me to attempt to recreate either of these looks let me know. I’m going to attempt at least four Prom looks throughout June if time allows.

This first one however, is by far the most dramatic that I will go for a Prom look. I would normally recommend a very fresh and dewy look for a teenager heading to Prom, with a hint of glitter and red lipstick. However, I know that some people prefer something more dramatic and designed this first look for them.

Face

For the face, I kept things very glowing and dewy with the foundation. I used two pumps of No7’s Lift and Luminate Foundation and applied it with a damp blending sponge. Under my eyes, I blended out a light layer of the Bare Minerals Stroke of Light Concealer. To keep a subtle glow I dusted the Bourjois Rice Powder over the foundation and concealer to set them.

To bronze up my skin I used the Models Own Sculpt and Glow Bronzer in Deep Tan on a fan brush to create a diffused subtle contour on my cheek bones. I brought any excess down my neck and up my temples.

Since the eyes were going to be quite dramatic, I kept blush quite minimal using Nars’ Impassioned Blush, and topped this with Laura Mercier’s Matte Baked HighlighterΒ in 001 to add a natural glow to the tops of my cheek bones.

Eyes

For my brows, I filled any sparse areas with the Benefit Precisely Brows Pencil, and set them using the Natural Collection Brow Gel.

One the eyes, I did apply a lid primer and set it with a bone coloured matte shadow. In the crease, I built up colour slowly using the blue shades from the Zoeva Matte Spectrum Palette. I blended them into a soft triangular shape on my outer edge, and joined the bottom line to the lower lash line. Then on the lid, I packed the turquoise shade, blending the edges into the blue.

To create the halo effect, I took Nyx’s Metalic Finish Eyeshadow in Mermaid and applied this to the centre of my lid with my pinkie finger. I then used a silver shade in the inner corner (It is Nyx but I don’t know it’s name).

I finished off the eyes using the lancome Grandiose Extreme Mascara.

Lips

I did try this out with red lipstick at first, but it was too much. So I teamed this up with Bobbi Brown’s Lip Colour in Tulle. This was such a pretty pop of pink. It looked gorgeous teamed up with the eyeshadow.

What other looks would you like me to try out for Prom season? Please let me know so I can get some inspiration for this series.

Have a lovely day guys!
