Hi everyone, how are you all today?
As I was hunting through my makeup collection trying to find stuff to sell I found some old favourites that I wanted to retry on my face. Some of these items are a few years old, but there was nothing wrong with them; no funny smells or mould so I felt confident putting them on my face.
It’s been a really long time since some of these things were my ride or die products, so I wanted to see how each item held up. Have they stood the test of time?
Body Shop Honey Matte Bronzer
I used to love this bronzer a lot. It was the perfect bronzer for pale skin. I remember this being one of the first bronzers that I actually hit pan on and immediately repurchased. This is still a beautiful shade and I reckon it will be ideal for Winter bronzing. It added a subtle touch of colour to my face, but it wasn’t overpowering. I still like this, but I don’t think that I could wear it when my skin has more colour.
Bare Minerals Ready Quad in The True Romantic
This is the oldest product here. I bought this almost four years ago along with the entire True Romantics collection. It was so beautiful! I used all the shades from this quad on my eye. They still blended beautifully and the shades stayed looking gorgeous all day. This still holds up and proves that products can be used way past their expiration date if you store them well.
My eyebrows really need tinting! I really struggled to find the hairs in my eyebrows to fill them in. However I did manage to carve a decent arc with this product and it still looked relatively natural… as natural as a brow pomade can look anyway. I still like this; it was creamy and applied well but I do prefer the L’Oreal Brow Pomade.
Nars Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Deep End
I love this shade so much! I wanted a slight pop of colour along my lower lash line and this blended out so well. The Nars shadows are worth every penny! I am really going to have to reach for these more often on a daily basis.
MAC Loose Pigment in Copper Sparkle
Initially this did apply quite patchy, but it always did. However with a but of Smashbox Primer Water spritzing on the brush more pigment did apply to my eyes. This does feel quite thick and weird on my eyes but the colour was beautiful. This was one of the few products that I really struggled to blend out, which shows on my eyes.
Lancome Matte Juicy Shaker in Beige Vintage
This is such a beautiful colour and I should wear it more. This definitely didn’t dry down as a true matte so I have a feeling that it will smudge if I tried to smudge it. However as an everyday lip shade, this is still stunning.
Bare Minerals Gen Nude Lipstick in Love
I used this as my base underneath the Lancome lipstick. The colours complimented each other really nicely. My lips have been really dry lately, and the Gen Nude lipsticks always add some much needed moisture back to my lips. Out of the two lip products, this is my favourite. The colour is such a flattering your lips but better pink.
What products have you rediscovered lately? Overall, I was quite impressed at how well some of these items held out. Although I do feel that some expiry dates should be followed (mascaras) however so many can comfortably survive past that time. Just go with what feels right for you, and trust your own judgement.
Have a lovely day!
